Large carved paddle in reddish wood with a trowel-shaped blade, cylindrical shaft, and a long tapering conical pommel which terminates in a rounded end. The blade has a tapering semicircular ridge down the lower part of each face, and the tip retains a small modelling of an abstracted beak. On one face the blade is engraved with a symmetrical design of concentric teardrop shapes infilled with zig zags. On the other are a symmetrical pair of Bonito or some other fish. The neck of the paddle incorporates scroll work in engraving and fretwork, although the fretwork has been damaged.
