Carved wooden mangle board from Norway, dating to circa 1830. The board is a slim rectangular piece of polished wood with a handle and designs carved into the upper surface. The upper surface is decorated with curved foliate motifs. The curved handle is made from a seperate piece of wood and is in the form of an anthropomorphic figure, possibly a mermaid.
