Axe, decorated haft & blade. Ceremonial. Ceremonial axe (native iron), decorated shaft and blade. Head; probably iron, decorated with a punched design. Executed with a "cuneiform" punch. Hafted directly onto shaft with tang and shaft bound at hafting with metal ring. Shaft; wood (ebony or mahogany) polished at grip and the upper half decorated with wickerwork in two panels. The lower covered with some resin or gum and the upper woven to include a rosette. Length 27 ½" Shaft 18" Nagas of Assam
