A long, rectangular warp ikat cloth, a shoulder cloth, or mantle (hinggi). It is woven in two sections and hand sewn together at one selvedge (the longer side). Woven with singles cotton, the warp ends are unfinished. The patterning consists of bands of animal and bird motifs, including giant squid and also contains skull trees, all placed as symmetrically opposed pairs. The motifs are predominantly cream and brown (with some blue) on a purple/black ground. [Textile]
