Chopper, locally known as Dao, from the Naga of Upper Myanmar. The chopper has a long, narrow, iron blade of a basic triangular shape. It has a single-edged, curved blade with a ridge along the length on one side near the back/top and a shallow, concave end. The haft is very short and wooden with an iron strip bound around the haft where the blade is inserted. Around the haft is bound a long band of red dyed cane decorated with strips of yellow orchid stem. The end 2-3cm of the haft is bare wood, with the last part recessed, as though a part, such as a hair fringe or a pommel, is missing, with traces of resin on two sides.
