Hairpin. Pointed and square-end-section bamboo pin, lacquered in black along three-quarters of its length, with a central section overlaid in red. The black head end painted on each side with two stripes of grey lozenges along the length, interspersed with a central line of red dots.
Broadly similar style hairpin, but round, 1993.363 from the Lakher or Mara peoples (also Chin), part of a mission collection made in the 20th century.
