bowl (containers); milking container; ithunga

Wooden milk vessel with a bulbous body and four sets of wooden blocks coming out of the neck.

This appears to be a good example of an old Zulu milk pail. The darkened projections near the mouth prevent the pail from slipping between the knees during milking. The fresh milk is then poured into clay vessels and soured before consuming.
