The ownership of this object was transferred to Nigeria’s National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) in November 2022.
Carved wooden ceremonial paddle made from one piece of wood. The paddle is leaf-shaped, tapering to a point and is decorated with carved-out and incised geometric designs. The head of the paddle has four semicircular shapes carved out of it, and one long, thin rectangular shape cut out towards the point. The handle is long with carved-out and incised geometric designs at the top and in the centre.
