The lift will be out of service until Friday 28 June while we work on a replacement, and the Museum may be noisier at times due to these works.
One short newspaper clipping reporting the number of visitors to the Horniman Museum for the week ending Wednesday evening, 5th of April, unknown year. The total of visitors was 3,054, with 316 on Saturday, 601 on Wednesday, 712 on Good Friday, and 1,425 on Easter Monday. The total of visitors reported since the opening of the Museum on the 24th of December 1890 was 92,715.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database. Some of this is incomplete and there may be errors. This part of the website is also still under construction, so there may be some fields repeated or incorrectly formatted information.
The database sometimes uses language taken from historical documents to help research, which may now appear outdated and even offensive. The database also includes information on objects that are considered secret or sacred by some communities.
