211.12 Sets of vessel drums

One of a pair model kettledrums (nagara type), joined with a leather strap. (The other drum is M6.12.65/37.) Wooden shell encircled with bands of incised rings and painted black The vellum head (damaged) directly braced with a long strip of red leather (broken in several places). With a Church Missionary Society label: 'MODELS OF/TOM-TOMS NATIVE DRUMS/ S.India'. Bought from the C.M.S. South India.
