According to Edward Hart, writing on 6 April 1927, 'Top left (no 1): male, fuscous variety, November 14th 1875; middle left (no 2): male, pied variety, December 1883; bottom left (no 3): male, albino, May 1861; bottom right (no 4): adult male, December 1882; middle right (no 5): adult male, December 1883; top right (no 6): adult female, February 1884. All shot by me either in Grove Wood or Bosley Wood, Christchurch. Sexes differ; summer and winter plumage differ. Mounted by me'.
