According to Edward Hart, writing on 6 April 1927, 'Left (no 1): adult male, March 1865; middle (no 2): adult female, 15 October 1887; right (no 3): adult male, 15 October 1887. Shot by me on Hengistbury Head, Christchurch. Sexes alike, summer and winter plumage differ. Mounted by me'.
