card container (boxes (containers))

A wooden playing card box on four ivory rounded feet. The sides and lid are decorated with frames and medallions in the form of stylised lotus flowers. There are borders of geometrical shapes made of ivory and coloured bone. There are two compartments, each for a pack of cards with a lid opened by means of a metal ring. Label: one printed exhibition label which sits on prism stand. The label has a red border. Two Purnell labels, one affixed to the base, the other affixed to the underside of the lid.
