Sample of originally rectangular cream barkcloth with painted decoration in black and brown. The textile has a cut dentate edge on one shorter side. One of the longer sides has a cut edge to create fine fringing. The other appears to have detached from an additional piece or worn away, as the patterns are incomplete. The decoration consists of a centre panel and 2 borders. The wider of these contains linked diamond motifs. The outer border consists of 2 dotted lines separated and framed by solidly coloured lines. The panel is surrounded by an inward-facing dentate pattern. 2 differently patterned large 8-pointed stars alternate surrounded by smaller star-shaped motifs. Toward one shorter end is a framed rectagular field which contains writing.
