

Sample of a whole silk moth cocoon, which is yellow-cream in colour, and has been flattened. It is housed in a small rectangular cardboard box, with one other cocoon and a sample of silk fibres.
There is an inscription on the lid of the box which reads: 'Colonial and Indian Exhibition, / (LONDON 1886) / INDIAN SILK CULTURE COURT. / BENGAL SILK, / (reeled in the exhibition,) / AND / COCOONS.'
