Headdress of cassowary feathers secured together in a row by a rafting technique of knots in bark fibre string. Between the two rows of knots a short length of the quills is painted with a white chalky paint and the knots themselves are painted red. In the centre of the headdress are two trimmed white flight feathers of a large bird, one of which has a blob of resin attached to it.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
