Shallow dish, lekane, from Cyprus. It is made of pinkish-red gritty clay, and is a heavy vessel. It is a low dish with smooth profile, on a very low ring foot. It has two horizontal brown-painted handles with knobs at rim level. The interior decoration is of a brown painted spiral, issuing from a dot and closed by a thick ring. The flat rim is painted dark brown also. There is exterior decoration on the base only, of crosshatched checkers in brown paint. On the foot are patches of brush strokes. The outside of the foot has brown banded decoration, which joins with the brown lines over the handles.
