Single-edged sword, 'dao', with wooden grip, ovoid iron pommel and circular iron guard. The hilt and guard are painted with black lacquer. Steel blade with single edge, slightly curved, pointed, one groove near the back on each side. Wooden scabbard covered with leather, mounted with brass fitting on locket and tip. Two iron rings encircle the upper section with a crest affixed on top, with two holes for tying cord or chain. The whole scabbard is painted with black lacquer.
