Dosho duct flute, the bamboo tube decorated with a lattice pattern. Seven fingerholes and one thumbhole.
The local Thai name for this flute is Khlui. It is almost certainly from Thailand, not from Japan. The lattice pattern decoration is distincitively Thai. This information was given by the ethnomusicologist, Supeena Insee Adler, a specialist in Thai instruments, visiting from UCLA. 2 August 2022, MWaitzman. Although the accession register says 'Japan', this is most likely where it was collected rather than where it was made.
