

Calendar staff, square staff of wood (no handle). The year is divided into two halves, winter and summer (beginning in October and April respectively) and marked out on opposite sides of the staff, reading from left to right The calendar has lost several days at the end of summer and winter. Along one edge of each marked side, days are indicated by notches. Month divisions are shown by grooves on the edge of the staff as also are some saint's days, that are shown with crosses. Fixed festivals are shown by appropriate symbols incised against the right day notches. Much worn.
