Robe. Man's jacket made of handspun handwoven undyed hemp with dark blue piping to ends of sleeves and rear flap and deep blue panels covering each shoulder. The jacket is made up of a large number of mostly rectangular sections of cloth sewn together in such a way that the back part consists of an outer and inner layer, the inner one with a slit from the bottom edge to about half way up the jacket formed where the sections of which it is composed have not been sewn together. The stitching is sometimes in raw cotton, sometimes blue, and with one row in red between two blue rows above the blue edging at the end of the sleeves and the inside of the back flap, presumably decorative. There is a narrow rectangular collar lined in blue on the back. The upper part of the front of the jacket is, like the back, of double thickness, with the blue panel forming a third layer over the top. The sleeves have underarm gussets and narrow towards the wrist.
