Carved wooden moon cake mould with deep circular recess and handle. The recess is carved at the base with a design which would appear on the surface of the cake when it was turned out. Two small holes run from this recess to the outer surface, for drainage.

at the mid-autumn moon festival for moulding a sweet cake, yueh ping. Both round and square moon cakes were traditional.
