Copy of the Freedom of the City of London granted to Frederick John Horniman in 1866 by the Mayor of London

One strip of parchment confirming Frederick John Horniman was granted a 'Freedom of the City of London' in 1866 by the Lord Mayor of London. The parchment reads: Frederick John Horniman of Wormwood Street Broad Street in the City of London, Tea Importer was admitted into the Freedom aforesaid and made the Declaration required by Law in the Mayoralty of Benjamin Samuel Phillips Esq. Mayor and Benjamin Scott Esquire Chamberlain and is entered in the book signed with the letter T. relating to the purchasing of Freedoms and the admissions of Freedom (to wit) the 13th day of October in the 20th Year of the Reign of Queen Victoria. And in the Year of our Lord 1866. In witness whereof the Seal of the Office of Chamberlain of the said City is hereunto affixed dated in the Chamber of Guildhall of the same City and day and year abovesaid.' The registration number 9825 is written in the top left corner of the parchment above a pritned copy of the coat of arms of the City of London.
