Shapley's Directory of British Organs (unpublished)

This collection contains typed and handwritten copies of Harry Shapley's directory of British organs, listed by county, and revisions to these listings assembled from the inter war years to the mid-1970s. Also included is a typed copy of Michael J. Watcham's Catalogue of Organ Photos and Negatives (1967/1968).
The collection contains one folder of correspondence relating ot the directory, including two letters from E.A.K. Ripley (donor) to David Allen (Horniman Museum Librarian) in 1975 and 1979 explaining the background and provenance of the directory, including the wishes of the creator and further information relating to ownership and copyright. Also included is correspondence to Harry Shapley from various enquiriers (dated 1963-1965).
