Three brass grooming kits, each having five grooming tools: two ear-picks, one nail-pick, and two miniature spears used as tooth-picks. The kits are hung from a coin centre-piece, which is attached to a chain with twisted wire of a floral design and two glass beads. The coin in two of the kits has a Chinese inscription 'Kangxi tongbao' on the obverse and a Manchu inscription on the reverse, which indicates that the coin was made in the reign of the Chinese Emperor Kangxi, who ruled 1662 - 1722. The coin in the third kit has a Chinese inscription 'Qianlong tongbao' on the obverse and a Manchu inscription on the reverse, from which it is apparent that the coin was made in the reign of the Chinese emperor Qianlong, 1736 - 1795.
