spear (weapons: missiles & projectors)

Two piece composite spear with tapering head of black palm wood socketed into a shaft of cane, each roughly half the length of the spear. The join is heavily bound with a split bamboo wrapping over painted with red paint. The shaft is decorated with three hoops of dark red paint between the first and second of which there is a complex tubular panel of black curvilinear decoration. The lower node of the cane has been left hollowed to a depth of 1 cm to permit use with a spear thrower.
