ink stick

Moulded rectangular inkstick decorated with a floral spray, with an impressed title, 'Taiping shu', literally meaning 'peace book', painted in gilt on the obverse. On the reverse are raised inscriptions with the ink maker's name, 'Huizhou Cha Wen-sheng jianzhi', which translates as 'Production supervised by Cha Wen-sheng from Huizhou', and on the top an inscription of someone's name, 'Yun Xiang Shi'.
