Notebooks, scrapbooks and ephemera related to folk and peasant costume and traditional dolls collected by sisters Dora Pettigrew and Kitty Pettigrew during their travels in Europe and Asia. The volumes contain typed and handwritten notes, postcards, photographs and annotated drawings of folk costumes in various parts of the world.
The collection comprises 24 volumes and 2 envelopes/folders and covers the folowing regions Spain; Hungary; Greece and Turkey; Italy (Calabria); Portugal; Czechoslovakia (Bohemia and Moravia); Italy (North-central); Germany and Austria; Italy (Basilicata and Apulia); Switzerland (Appenzell - Soleure); Hungary (West of the Danube); Albania; Guatemala (Nepal); Romania (Transylvania and Banat); Basse Bretagne (Lower Brittany); Cotes du Nord (Northern Brittany); Italy (Molise, Campania); Romania (Oltenia, Wallachia, Dobrudja, Moldavia); Czechoslovakia and Slovakia; Yugoslavia; Serbia and Macedonia; Switzerland; and Sardinia.
