Large diatonic bandoneon, by Dix-Langsschliff, German. Serial number 116233. Circular enamelled metal disc on right hand bar: 'DIX LANGSSHLIFF TONZUNGEN D.R.P.,' with a picture of a reed. The air-valve grille has a fretted metal cover reading: 'UNIVERSAL.'
9" x 9.5" diameter ends, covered with blue 'pearl' plastic and white plastic edging, chamfered corners are inlaid with metal. The ends are secured by chromed wing bolts.
64 keys: left-hand 29, right-hand 35. Pearl-tipped plastic keys, plus chromed air lever working on a wire and sprung inner trapdoor.
Left-hand strap original. Right-hand strap later, with buckled leather hand straps.
Seventeen-fold bellows, metal cornered and trimmed, with gold/red papers. Two neck strap mounts on thick folds.
Steel reed tongues on thick zinc reed plates.
