Spear with long metal blade and decorated basketry shaft. Long leaf-shaped blade with two projections socketed on to wooden shaft, with pointed butt end. The wooden shaft decorated along its whole length, from below the metal socket to above the point, with plaited strips of red cane and yellow orchid stem. The decoration in three main sections: the top and bottom thirds with yellow zig-zag patterns on red twilled work: the central third plain red twilled work. A band of plain cotton bound on above and below and between each section with a length of black cotton bound loosely around the central bands.
