Saddle blanket. Hungary c.1850. Rectangular piece of very coarse black wool cloth (possibly knitted?). with a section cut out the shorter side. Intended to fit over saddle. Red leather pieces embroidered in white, yellow and green cotton are placed over where the ends of the saddle go and also where the rider’s legs would be. L c. 7ft. W 49”.
