Cotton band, woven and dyed in indigo and red, the fringe dividing into two at each end, the two strands twisted and used to tie the sash. The band has been woven such that there are diamond shapes in red on the front, while the reverse is plain blue. From the central part of the band, strands of hair hang in bunches, bound at the top with yellow thread and below this with red wool. Most of the hair is dyed red, but there are five bunches or so at each end which are pale, apparently undyed, and two further groups of bunches at intervals along the band.
