Bolt of handmade atlas silk from a new house near the White Jade River in Hotan, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China in 1989. Handwoven from locally reared silk, with patterns tied into the yarn in the ikat technique, and resist dyed. The cloth has strips of ikat in black, red, yellow, white, fuchsia, blue and green.
