mask (dance & live theatre)

Noh mask. This is a mask worn exclusively for the role of Minamoto no Yorimasa, the title role in the play 'Yorimasa'. The character tries in vain to defeat the Taira clan. His wide-open sunken eyes and tense face with sharp furrows on the forehead and cheeks reveal the old warrior’s valour, pride and outstanding desire for revenge. Inscription: Hosho Dayu, Yoshishige.
