Woman's skirt for festivals or special occasions, of multicoloured plain and patterned satin. Twenty streamers hang from the waist, below a white cotton waistband with knot loop buttons. Decorated with patterned ribbon and embroidery on white silk. Embroidered designs on the three rectangular panels include three cartouches inside a rectangular band with a pavilion and willow tree, a boy holding a floral spray and a boat in a river scene, framed by floral motifs. The border of the panels, hem and streamers have butterflies and floral designs of plum blossom, orchid, chrysanthemum and narcissus. The overlaid stitches are typical of the late 19th to early 20th century. L 985mm.
