We strongly advise visitors to book tickets in advance to avoid queuing, due to reduced till points at the Ticket Desk. Some paths are closed around the entrance while we do improvement works in the Gardens. Please follow signs on site.
One article describing the events of the presentation to Mr J.R. Manning “for the church in the office of people’s warden”. In a similar wat to ARC/HMG/PR/004/001/128, the author notes reputable guests who attended the event, as well as the fact mentioning of lanterns that were lit in the gardens (1000 Vauxhall lights and 700 large lanterns).
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
