

Qin, half tube zither. Two ideograms are carved on the back of the instrument signifying: 'Bright' 'Rice'. The wooden body with convex soundtable is lacquered black, with patches of a red-brown colour. Thirteen mother of pearl studs are inlaid on the player's side of the sound table. There are seven strings, with gaugues of graduated thickness. The back has a rectangular soundhole and a brightly coloured silk cloth.
