tea caddy (containers)

Rectangular, lacquered wooden box for a tea caddy. The box has a hinged lid with a rectangular wooden frame. Two gilt brass knobs are attached on either side, but the handles are missing. A keyhole mounted with an ovoid brass plate is loosely attached at the front, as three nails are missing. The exterior is decorated with ornate panels with gold lacquer painted over black lacquer depicting figures in a garden scene with pavilions, surrounded by a frame embellished with coins, scrolls, books, endless knot and lacquer boxes amidst flowers and butterflies, bordered by an outer frame of flowers and butterfly designs.
