pouch (bags (land transport: human powered))

A bag made of brown leather. The front is decorated with embroidered panels which have motifs embroidered on them in thread, and have fringes of blue, cream, yellow, green and red thread around the edges and around circular motifs on the panels. There are metal studs in the centre of the circular motifs. There are plaited leather straps at the sides and along the lower edge which end in many bundles of leather fringing. Attached to the top edge by leather straps is a handle made of a bundle of green thread which is braided at each end to attach to the bag.

Collection Information

These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database. Some of this is incomplete and there may be errors. This part of the website is also still under construction, so there may be some fields repeated or incorrectly formatted information.

The database sometimes uses language taken from historical documents to help research, which may now appear outdated and even offensive. The database also includes information on objects that are considered secret or sacred by some communities.
