Hat with large brim and thick bamboo rim, covered with open-work weave of rattan wicker, coarser on the inside, through which can be seen the light green palm leaf body. Two cord shoulder straps are attached to the inside edge of the crown. Three Chinese characters, 'chen sheng fa', in black ink are painted on the brim, said to advertise a greengrocer.
