Brown lacquered tubular box for encasing a feather plume. The case is ovoid in section, and inscribed in gold paint with 當朝一品, 'dang chao yi pin', on one side, indicating it was conferred upon a first-rank, i.e top rank official. The other side is decorated with a red and gold dragon chasing a flaming pearl. There are fitting caps with string at both ends, each decorated in gold paint with key-fret band on the side, and a 'shou' (longevity) character on the top.
