Iskander/ Alexander the Great

Rod puppet representing Iskander (Alexander the Great), wearing a red plush, two-tone robe and skirt with areas a round frontal element in yellow applique decorated with gold pigment, and similar elements at neck and cuffs. Painted papier mache head, articulated by means of a mechanism attached to a nylon thread, with pink cloth turban above two wooden horns and a gold paper crown. Papier mache hands operated by two metal rods with wooden handles. Central metal rod. Puppet was purchased from the workshop's own collection for US$30.
