On Weds 29 and Thurs 30 March, the Butterfly House, Animal Walk, Bandstand Terrace, and Horniman Drive gates and path will be closed for resurfacing works. Blue Badge parking is closed all week. Please follow signs on site.
We strongly advise visitors to book tickets in advance to avoid queuing, due to reduced till points at the Ticket Desk.
A letter sent by Frederick Horniman to Joseph Kemp, dated 11 August 1896, thanking Mr Kemp for his donation of an object to the Museum and promising that it will be noted in that year's report. According to the 1896 Horniman Museum Annual Report Mr Kemp had donated a Winchester repeating rifle (1860), an iron bolt from Old Chain Pier, Brighton and an Illustrated Bible dated 1752.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
