A letter sent by Frederick Horniman to Joseph Kemp, dated 11 August 1896, thanking Mr Kemp for his donation of an object to the Museum and promising that it will be noted in that year's report. According to the 1896 Horniman Museum Annual Report Mr Kemp had donated a Winchester repeating rifle (1860), an iron bolt from Old Chain Pier, Brighton and an Illustrated Bible dated 1752.
