fan (personal protection)

Folding ladies' fan, the paper blade painted on one side only with a classical scene depicting Europa riding on the back of a garlanded bull through the water, with women on the banks to either side. The sticks are carved simply of ivory, with metal detailing and a small mother-of-pearl fitting at the end. The blade is edged with silver.
